On invasive species at the VII Balkan Botanical Congress
On the closing day of the 7th Balkan Botanical Congress, on September 14th, 2018, at the premises of the Department of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Novi Sad, a representative of the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia - botanist Verica Stojanović, presented the topic of Invasive plant species in Serbia and neighboring countries, the authors of which were V. Stojanović, I. Živanović and I. Bjedov. It was in the form of a poster presentation within the session on Conservation biology and Invasive plant species.
As part of plenary lectures and nine thematic sessions, it was presented nearly 400 scientific and research papers covering all botanical disciplines. The papers presented the situation and trends in the field of flora of the Balkans. The presented achievements in the study of botany of the Balkans are also a further platform in the joint work on promotion and protection of the unique plant world of this part of Planet, which is very sensitive to the process of climate change, as well as to socio-economic and development trends at the local and regional level.
A plenary lecture "Medicinal Plants of the Bible - past, present and future", the authors of which are Dafni A., Boeck B. was the closing lecture of the Congress program.
The Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia was one of the co-organizers of the Congress, which was held in the period September 10 to 14, 2018. VII Balkan Botanical Congress was organized by the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Department of Biology and Ecology, University of Novi Sad and Botanical Society "Andreas Wolny".
