At the amphitheater of the National Library of Serbia on June 7th, 2019, a meeting was held on the occasion of promoting the two new Red Books of Fauna of Serbia, which was organized by the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia. The Red Book of Fauna of Serbia III: Birds and the Red Book of Fauna of Serbia IV: Orthoptera have been published in cooperation of the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, the Department of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics - the University of Novi Sad and the Society for the Protection and Study of Birds of Serbia.

The importance of publishing two new volumes of the Red Book of Fauna of Serbia, which are two new books of national importance regarding nature conservation, was presented by reviewers, authors and publishers who, based on their rich scientific knowledge and their authority, contributed to and confirmed the high value of these publications.

On behalf of the publisher, the audience was addressed by professor Goran Anačkov, Director of the Department of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics - the University of Novi Sad, who stressed that "in addition to persistent and professional work, the publication of these books is the result of self-sacrifice and love for nature and protection of these species, which all contributed to the publication of these books". Milan Ružić, Executive Director of the Society for the Protection and Study of Birds of Serbia, pointed out that "a large number of experts, as well as amateurs who collected data in the field, participated in the preparation of the Red Book of Birds", whereas Danko Jović, Head of the Institute’s Office in Niš, said that the Institute as a co-publisher of all published Red Books in Serbia, shall coordinate the work on publishing future Red Books, as well as the implementation of guidelines set out in the already published Red Books, in order to reduce the number of endangered species to be presented in the future Red Books.

About the Red Book of Fauna of Serbia IV, the first published book of this sort in the world, spoke professor Ivo Karaman from the Department of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics - the University of Novi Sad, who presented the results of several decades of field research across Serbia and the research of literature data in the period of more than one and a half centuries.
