The Director of the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, Mrs Marina Šibalić, has met with Bishop Pahomije of Vranje in the Prohor Pčinjski Monastery where it was discussed about the possibilities and procedures of protection that would follow the revision of the protected area "Dolina Pčinje" (Pčinja valley). The protection of the new area of the Natural monument Vražji kamen-Prosečnik, the manager of which is the Serbian Orthodox Church - the Diocese of Vranje, was also discussed about on this meeting. Upon the conducted research of natural values, the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia prepared Conservation Studies of the mentioned areas, which were submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection for further procedure on establishing their protection status.
The meeting was also attended by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Aleksandar Dujanović, who pointed out that the expansion of the protected area of the Outstanding Natural Landscape Dolina Pčinje and the establishment of a new protected natural area of the Natural monument - Vražji kamen - Prosečnik would mean the increase in the percentage of protected area in Serbia and the consequent conservation of natural wealth, ecosystems and natural balance for future generations.
In addition, a special moment was organized during the visit to the monastery of St. Prohor Pčinjski when the Bishop of Vranje, Pahomije, handed a charter to the Director of the Institute as a token of gratitude for the protection of nature and natural values and a successful cooperation in the past.
