I. The protection zone (protection regime of the degree I) has the character of a special nature reserve and includes Malo ratno ostrvo as a whole, the riparian zone of Veliko ratno ostrvo, the forest complex, the wetlands within Veliko ratno ostrvo and the water areas surrounding Malo ratno ostrvo.
II. The recreation zone (protection regime of the degree II) includes the interior parts of Veliko ratno ostrvo, formerly arable land still used in this way, the meadows of the Danube riparian area, now partially occupied by illegally constructed facilities, and the location of a public dock with controlled public road and 10-m-wide buffer zone linking this site to Lido Beach.
III. The tourism zone (protection regime of the degree III) includes Lido Beach with a planned extension where tourist - recreational activities can be organized.
In addition to the mentioned protection regimes, the protection regimes established by the law of the Republic of Serbia and other regulations governing the management of international waterways, the protection of water supply and water management facilities, the protection of wetlands, as well as the protection of hunting and fishing reserves, are also being implemented in this area. According to its international status, this area is an Important Bird Area - IBA and the European Emerald Area.

SHORT DESCRIPTION (THE MAIN NATURAL AND CREATED VALUES)
Veliko and Malo ratno ostrvo (river islands) are located in the unprotected Danube floodplain, which is why there is no direct influence of the urban zone of Belgrade. The Danube surrounds this floodplain zone in the length of two-thirds of the coast. The islands have remained as a green oasis of relatively conserved nature with the diversity and richness of the living world, which is characteristic of the once wide floodplain of the Danube and Sava.
The protected natural area of Veliko ratno ostrvo consists of two river islands (Veliko and Malo ratno ostrvo), which are located between 1172nd and 1169th km of the Danube stream. It has a protection belt in the width of 50 meters of the water area beginning from the point 70,10 of the Danube water level. The protected natural area includes any other part of Veliko and Malo ratno ostrvo that, at the lowest water level, is above the river water level, as well as all sandbanks that occur due to the effects of water currents and changes in vegetation or as a consequence of the alluvial deposits, which are related to the river islands. This area now measures 211 ha 36 a 78 m2 (Veliko ratno ostrvo 210 ha 64 a 38 m2 and Malo ratno ostrvo 72 a 40 m2).
