This book presents 109 protected areas and 11 protected species. In addition to the type of natural area (national park, nature park, nature reserve, landscape of outstanding features, nature monument and habitat) and the presentation of its most important features of bio and geo diversity, the book provides the information for each area’s classification into one of the ecological networks or the network of internationally important areas. Each area has been illustrated by photographs of its landscape, biodiversity of its species, geoheritage sites and authentic cultural monuments. The presented natural areas have been selected not only because they are most representative in their type and category, but for the fact that they display all the diversity of natural heritage of Serbia, as part of the richness of the world’s natural heritage.
